(Brewer, ME) –Two EMHS continuing care caregivers were recently honored by the Maine Health Care Association for “outstanding service and dedication to Maine’s long term care residents. The recipients, Stella DerBoghosian, CNA at Charles A Dean Memorial Nursing Home, in Greenville and Joan England, CNA Stillwater Health Care, in Bangor were recognized during a Celebrating Excellence in Caregiving Awards Luncheon at the Samoset Resort this month.
Ten caregivers from across the state were recognized with the Celebrating Excellence in Caregiving award. The award is a tribute for caregivers who are compassionately committed to their careers in long-term care, which at times can be challenging as well as emotionally and physically demanding. Nominees for the award must meet a certain criteria including performance, length of service, and efforts that are above and beyond the normal call of duty. Finalists are selected from an independent panel with long-term care experience.
“We are very proud of both Stella and Joan.” says Lisa Harvey-McPherson, RN, MBA, MPPM, EMHS vice president Continuum of Care, “Each day, Stella and Joan share their compassion and dedication to caring for seniors with their patients and co-workers. They demonstrate for all of us the important role that senior caregivers have as EMHS becomes the best rural healthcare system in America by 2012.”
Maine has one of the largest senior populations in the country and ensuring access to high quality services for Maine’s seniors is an important component of the care provided by EMHS. Our members establish uniform quality standards helping to ensure the best possible care is available from Waterville to Madawaska and from Greenville to Blue Hill.
